Eric Leonard

Eric Leonard, an employee at Lockheed Martin Michoud Operations, began donating blood when his best friend's father accidentally shot himself cleaning his gun. He was 17 years old and upon hearing about his friend's father, he also learned that he needed blood. At the time, Eric and his friends did not know the requirements for giving blood, luckily they were 17 years old, weighed over 110 lbs. and were in good health. They qualified! Eric went down to give blood and his friend's father pulled through the accident. Later he went into the Marines where he donated blood often. Eric was also influenced by his father, "My Dad was an avid blood donor . . . I kind of associated that with adult responsibility." Eric is currently a 13.5-gallon donor.
